It won’t surprise many to hear that Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson is a popular figure wherever he goes and whatever team he has been a part of.
Since moving to Elland Road, the 28-year-old has become a firm fan favourite amongst supporters and it is largely down to his character and the manner in which he interacts with fans.
During the early part of his career, Jansson used to play for his boyhood club Malmö FF, and a video has surfaced on Twitter of him leading a chant with the Swedish club prior to their Europa League clash against Chelsea on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge.
It is pretty understandable to see why the Arlov-born player is adored by supporters both of his current club and his former sides.
In terms of Malmo’s game against Chelsea, the London club hold a 2-1 lead from the first leg in Sweden as former Leeds boss Uwe Rosler will be hoping his team can cause an upset away from home.
Nonetheless, for Malmo, Jansson played 128 matches for the club, scoring seven goals and winning three Swedish titles along the way [transfermarkt].
He will be hoping he can transcend that winner’s mentality to Leeds as they eye promotion to the Premier League. They are currently sitting third in the Championship, but they do have a game in hand on their rivals.
After Jansson is finished celebrating with the Malmo supporters, he will turn his attention to the weekend and helping his team secure a vital three points against Bolton.
