Udinese players Pablo Armero and Maicoseul may have to take a sizeable portion of blame for the Italian sides exit at the hands of Braga, in the Champions League, last night.
Udinese were dumped out of the Champions League at the final hurdle before the Group Stage once again as they lost on penalties to Braga last night. Last season they were dumped out by Arsenal but this time it was the turn of the 2011 Europa League runners-up to displace Udinese.
But it was a game more famous for two horror moments for Udinese’s South American stars.
Despite giving the side the lead earlier in the game, Colombian Pablo Armero will be haunted by this miss.
When clear through on goal he seems to forget where the ball is, instead kicking the ground and collapsing to the floor in comically embarrassing style…
He scored his penalty in the shoot-out which is more that can be said for Maicoseul. The man they call the ‘Magician’ failed to pull of this famous trick, as his Panenka attempt was easily read by Braga stopper Beto, leaving the Brazilian with the unenvious task of walking back to his team-mates in the centre circle.
The spot kick proved vital as Braga dispatched all 5 of their attempts to send the Italian side tumbling out once again.
Embarrassing stuff, I am sure you will agree.
