Antonio Conte will be delighted with Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Aston Villa – a pretty-much perfect result, especially with Arsenal and Manchester United losing. But Sergio Reguilon angered him, in a video on Conte Cam.
A hat-trick from Son Heung-min, two assists for Harry Kane and a third goal in Tottenham colours for Dejan Kulusevski was the highlights of another high-scoring win for Spurs. They remain in fourth, three clear of Arsenal.
Yes, Arsenal have a game in hand – but that game is against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal also have to go to Tottenham on May 12, a game that has finally been rearranged. Spurs look likely to get fourth.
Seven wins from nine and ridding themselves of their inconsistency has helped them do that. But Conte is a perfectionist and proof of that came early on in the second half, berating Reguilon for a pass forward.
The Spain international had come on for Matt Doherty after 21 minutes – the latter suffering an MCL injury that has ruled him out for the season. He was excellent despite entering the game a quarter of the way through.
Conte berates Reguilon: Tottenham star still decent in huge Villa win
But early in the second half, before Kulusevski made it 2-0, Conte is seen pointing back to one of the defenders when Reguilon was in possession – instead, £43million (Football London) Reguilon plays forward, and loses it.
The clip is seen in Conte Cam, posted on Tottenham’s YouTube, at around 2:15. The Italian gaffer shouts at Reguilon, perhaps in his native Italian, arms out wide questioning why Reguilon had passed forward, not back.
