Manchester City will not make any moves in the January transfer window to sign a replacement for Ferran Torres, if reports are to be believed.

According to ESPN, Pep Guardiola’s side will not actively look for an immediate answer to replace the now-FC Barcelona attacker, with City instead plotting to sign a striker in the summer.

As per the report, City will use the funds generated from Torres’ sale to sign a replacement in the off-season rather than in January. And with the Manchester side sitting top of the Premier League table and scoring an outrageous 23 goals this month, it perhaps makes sense.

Indeed, City are in some truly remarkable form, with Guardiola’s side six points clear at the top of the table, with the reigning Premier League champions facing Brentford tonight.

Signing a striker might not make much sense given the goalscoring form City are in, however, this decision has not gone down well with supporters on social media.

Indeed, this is mainly because the report states that City retain an interest in Tottenham striker Harry Kane, with the majority of fans wanting the club to go all out for Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland.
