Jamie Carragher has claimed that Gary Neville and Martin Tyler tell him that commentating from the Anfield Main Stand used to be ‘their favourite’ up until Liverpool expanded that part of the stadium, as he stated on Instagram live.
Liverpool have expanded their home during these past few years and it seems at though they aren’t going to stop there because they have more plans going forward.
The six-time Champions League winners are now looking to expand the Anfield Road Stand, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp recently seen with a spade in hand, which started proceedings for the next step.
When Liverpool complete their next project, then it will take Anfield’s capacity above 61,000, which would be the third largest in England’s top-flight.
Nonetheless, this is what Carragher said about his fellow Sky colleagues favourite commentary positions.
“Gary Neville and Martin Tyler used to tell me that Anfield was their favourite,” said Carragher.
“Until the new stand was done and they are a bit further back. And a bit higher now.”
Both Carragher and Neville will be in the gantry together at the weekend, when Liverpool travel to Old Trafford to take on out-of-sorts Manchester United on Sunday.
The Reds are unbeaten this season, scoring goals for fun and have the best player in the world on their hands right now.
Whilst Man United shipped four at Leicester last time out and questions are being asked as to which direction the club is heading.
On one hand, the weekend game suits Man United because it would provide them with a real morale boost if they win.
But if they lose, then the calls for the manager to be sacked will only grow louder and it would be a statement of intent from Jurgen Klopp’s side.
