Swansea City broke their transfer record and splashed £15.5 million on Spaniard Borja Baston in the summer, according to BBC Sport, in a bid to find a goalscorer to fire them up the table.
The signing hasn’t had the dream effect they may have hoped for though, with only one goal in six appearances so far this season, stark contrast to the 19 goals Baston scored in La Liga last term.
But what did Swansea expect? Spanish strikers traditionally find it tough to adapt to Premier League football, which is fine, unless you’ve gambled almost all of your transfer budget and signed two.

The Swans also signed Fernando Llorente who’s also netted just once so far this season.
You can understand why Swansea wanted to spend such a large amount on a striker as they continue to attempt to add a goal threat to their side, but why not bring in a striker experienced in English football?
There’s no guarantees with any arrival but signing a player who has already adapted to English football is always going to give you a head start.

Just look at Charlie Austin – A striker in terrific form and it’s no surprise, he has English football and goals in his DNA.
Swansea would die for a striker like Austin and they probably could have got one had they invested their £15.5 million a little more wisely.
Granted, Baston could yet hit form and surprise many but Swansea are already playing catch-up and with a tough run of fixtures, few are holding out hope of a resurgence.
