West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini pushed to tie Jack Wilshere down to a long-term deal.

David Sullivan may feel that he was right all along, and West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini was wrong over Jack Wilshere.

Sullivan wanted West Ham to sign Wilshere on a one-year deal, but Pellegrini pushed for the midfielder to be handed a three-year contract, according to the Daily Mail.

In the end, Pellegrini got his way, with Wilshere being kept around at the London Stadium for the long term.

But the signs are that Sullivan may well have been right about the transfer.

Wilshere has struggled since arriving at West Ham, with his performances failing to live up to expectations.

Wilshere has looked miles off the pace, with his fitness and mobility a serious concern.

West Ham simply have no option but to stick by Wilshere now, as he is tied down to a long-term contract.

And the Hammers may be regretting not having the option to get rid of Wilshere at the end of this season, unless he transforms his form as the campaign progresses.
