Newcastle defender Good will leave St. James’ Park at the end of the season.
Newcastle United defender Curtis Good is expected to leave St. James’ Park at the end of the 2017-18 campaign as his contract expires at the end of June, but was he given a fair chance in black and white?
The Evening Chronicle claim the 24-year-old defender will leave at the end of his current deal, which the Daily Star claim is worth £12,000 a week, as he remains a complete outcast on Tyneside.
The likes of captain Jamaal Lascelles, left-footer Ciaran Clark, speed machine Chancel Mbemba and summer signing Florian Lejuene all remains ahead of Good in the centre-back pecking order.
Now entering his mid-twenties, one-time Australia international Good will have come to the realisation that his chances of breaking into the Newcastle side are as good as over.
He has featured just twice for the Toon, once in Rafa Benitez’s spell in charge, coming against Oxford United in the FA Cup last season. He also played in a Carabao Cup tie against Morecambe way back in 2013.
Known for his commanding aerial ability, Good was lured to England by Newcastle from Melbourne Heart in 2012 but was clearly not trusted enough to be given first-team duties.
Joining Newcastle almost six years ago, it is more than fair to say that Good has not been given the chance he surely deserves to impress for the Toon and will feel aggrieved that his long stint at St. James’ Park is coming to an end.
