Former Manchester City star Samir Nasri has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.
As reported by Sky Sports News, the two-time Premier League champion has called time on his career after an illustrious career in England. Nasri was part of the City side that won the 2012 and 2014 league titles.
The former France international was most recently with Belgian side R.S.C. Anderlecht, who are managed by former City captain and legend Vincent Kompany.
Nasri’s career saw him play for the likes of Olympique Marseille, Arsenal and Sevilla. Yet his most successful spell was with City.
As well as two Premier League titles, the playmaker was key to the 2014 League Cup victory against Sunderland. Nasri scored the second goal in what was a 3-1 win for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.
A maverick of sorts, Nasri’s quality was clear to see on the pitch. The midfielder was always one of the best players on the pitch whenever on form for City.

And on social media, City fans were stunned that Nasri had announced his retirement from football somewhat soon into his life. Current club captain Fernandinho is two years older than the French midfielder.
Here’s what some City fans had to say about Nasri announcing his retirement from the game on Twitter…
