Golden State’s troubling 10–10 start has taken another turn, with concerns now extending beyond Stephen Curry as Draymond Green is suspected to be dealing with an injury of his own.

The Golden State Warriors’ promising 4–1 opening burst has long faded, replaced by inconsistent play and the heavy toll of an unforgiving schedule. With the oldest starting lineup in the NBA, the physical wear has been visible — and the team’s worst nightmare arrived when Stephen Curry suffered an injury during the loss to the Rockets.

But Curry’s setback may not be the full extent of the damage. Reporting from inside the locker room has raised fresh concerns about Draymond Green, whose body language and behind-the-scenes comments suggest he too may be playing through pain at a delicate moment in the Warriors’ season.

Insider reveals Draymond Green’s “painful” issue despite his denial

NBA reporter Anthony Slater said on The Hoops Collective that Green is quietly battling an injury similar in nature — though not in severity — to the one Curry suffered in 2022 after Marcus Smart fell on his foot.

“I talked to him in the locker room yesterday… he wants to play on Wednesday,” Slater said. He added that Green downplayed comparisons to Curry’s past injury, noting, “Draymond was saying Steph tore something, Draymond didn’t do that, but it was painful.” Slater described Green grimacing as he tried to put on his shoe, a telling sign of discomfort that contrasts with the power forward’s insistence on staying on the court.

Warriors can’t afford another absence as pressure mounts

Green has appeared in 17 of Golden State’s 20 games this season, including the latest loss to Houston, where he criticized the team’s performance but avoided discussing his own physical condition. With the Warriors sitting at 10–10 and Curry already sidelined, any further injury could deepen the team’s slide in a fiercely competitive Western Conference.

For a roster already stretched thin and struggling defensively without its franchise star, losing Green — the team’s emotional anchor and defensive orchestrator — would be a blow the Warriors can ill afford as they try to stabilize their season.
