Brazil legend Pele told Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison to ‘never change’ after Brazil suffered World Cup heartache in Qatar.

One of the pre-World Cup favourites were knocked out on penalties to Croatia in the quarter-finals, as Richarlison’s Tottenham teammate, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, added in the comments section of his Instagram post from Saturday, ‘Always head up, warrior.’

Whilst on one side it’s joy for someone like Ivan Perisic, who at 33 is headed for another World Cup semi-final, it’s a case of what could have been for Brazil and Richarlison.

The former Everton man started the tournament in a strong fashion, scoring a brace against Serbia, but he was hauled off during that dramatic game against Croatia.

Given that, in extra-time, Brazilians all around the world felt that Neymar had won the game for his nation, it was sent to the dreaded penalty shootout, with the European side showcasing its worth.

Richarlison expressed on Instagram that he couldn’t sleep after that loss, but Pele posted in the comments section: “Just keep going, kid. And never change. You made Brazil smile.”, whilst Hojbjerg added: “Always head up, warrior. Still so much to achieve.”

PREMIER LEAGUE FOOTBALL RETURN

Well, the days are ticking closer to Premier League football returning, with the World Cup now hitting its closing stages.

A few Tottenham players still remain in the tournament – Hugo Lloris, Cristian Romero and Ivan Perisic.

Whilst Brazil were knocked out in a shootout, another Spurs player suffered penalty heartache himself on Saturday in Harry Kane.

The England captain watched his penalty blaze over the bar to the delight of Lloris, as the Three Lions suffered a 2-1 loss to France and headed out at the quarter-final stages, just like Brazil.
