Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has suggested to Wales Online that there has been interest in Lee Tomlin amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest.

The Nottingham Post reported back in June that Forest are interested in signing Tomlin from Cardiff in the summer transfer window.

The 29-year-old, who can operate as a striker or as an attacking midfielder, spent the second half of the 2017-18 campaign on loan at the Reds from the Bluebirds.

Warnock told Wales Online regarding the futures of Tomlin, Anthony Pilkington and Omar Bogle: “We’ve had one or two enquiries, that will all come up I would imagine and liven up in the next three weeks.

”Especially when I announce my squad on the 9th (of August), the Football League have got another two or three weeks so I think a lot of them will be waiting until deadline as always.”

Good signing for Nottingham Forest?

Tomlin did well during his spell at Forest during the second half of the 2017-18 campaign, as the 29-year-old scored four goals and provided three assists in 12 Championship starts, according to WhoScored.

Forest have been quite busy so far in the summer transfer window and have made a number of signings, including midfielder Joao Carvalho and striker Lewis Grabban.

Tomlin may not be exactly needed at Forest, but given how he played under manager Aitor Karanka at the City Ground last season, it would make sense for the Reds to at least make a move before the summer transfer window closes.
