Ibrox side Rangers are reportedly hunting the 38-year-old veteran.
Neil Warnock has claimed to The Mail that Clint Hill would represent a “very good signing” for Rangers.
The Sun reported on Wednesday that Mark Warburton was keen to bolster Rangers defence with the 38-year-old, who was released by QPR this summer.
Warnock knows the veteran defender well from their time together at Loftus Road, and the 67-year-old says he would be a fine addition to the Gers.
“I think Clint could be a very good signing for Rangers. Not just on the field of play, off it as well,” he told The Mail.
“Clint is a good professional. When you are a young kid that can’t help but rub off on you.
“When you see someone like that, who has been around the block, but still wants to die for the cause it’s inspirational.”
Despite his advancing years, Hill would certainly be a good signing to a team whose defensive frailties were exposed in the 3-2 Scottish Cup final defeat by Hibernian.
If Rangers have a weakness at the moment, it’s at the back and Warburton desperately needs to address it before their big return to the Scottish Premiership.
He has signed a multitude of midfielders and attacking quantities, in Jordan Rossiter, Joey Barton and Josh Windass, while defender Matt Crooks will also arrive shortly.
But having an experienced head in the squad might well do wonders for the Ibrox club as they look to challenge Celtic for a Premiership crown next season.
