Rangers will challenge for the title next season according to Mark Warburton.

Ex-Rangers boss Mark Warburton has told Open Goal that he thinks the Gers will really challenge for the title next season – but thinks they lack a player like Celtic’s Tom Rogic.
The Gers could only draw at home to St Johnstone on Saturday afternoon, and their title hopes for this season appear to be all but over.
They now sit eight points adrift of Celtic and face an uphill task to even make the Bhoys sweat again, never mind get back into a position to realistically eye up top spot.
In truth though, Steven Gerrard has fared very well in his first season as a manager, picking up an Ibrox win over Celtic whilst also guiding Rangers into the group stages of the Europa League.
It’s a great platform for Gerrard to build on, and some clever additions this summer may just set them up well for a run at the title next season.
That’s the opinion of ex-Rangers boss Mark Warburton anyway, who doesn’t think Rangers will win the league this season, instead predicting that next season is the year for Rangers.

Warburton did though add that Rangers are missing a player like Celtic’s Tom Rogic; a real quality number 10 who can create and score behind the striker, and it will be Gerrard’s task to find that player this summer.
“Do I think Rangers will win it this year? I hope they do. I don’t think they’ve got enough this year to win it,” said Warburton. “I think Celtic will win it this year, next year is the year for Rangers for me. It gives Steven time to settle in players and make one or two changes, but I don’t think they’ve got a Rogic type. I don’t think they’ve got that number 10 who’s so clever that he makes the team tick. You look at the best teams, they’ve always got that clever player,” he added.
