Philippe Senderos appears to be edging closer to a move to Rangers.

Rangers manager Mark Warburton has told a press conference, as seen on the club’s official YouTube channel, that he is hoping to reach a very quick conclusion over a deal for Philippe Senderos.
The Gers have brought in Matt Gilks, Lee Hodson, Clint Hill, Joey Barton, Jordan Rossiter, Matt Crooks, Josh Windass, Niko Kranjcar, Joe Dodoo and Joe Garner in a busy summer at Ibrox – but manager Warburton isn’t done just yet.
Last season’s first-choice centre back pairing of Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan had some shaky moments last term, with fans looking for more experience at the back.

Veteran Hill has added that this summer, but Dominic Ball’s return to Tottenham and subsequent sale to Rohterham United has left Rangers needing another defender – and Warburton could be closing in on one.
Free agent centre back Philippe Senderos has joined the club on trial last week, and with a move for Joleon Lescott falling through last week, the Swiss defender appears to be Warburton’s top target now.

The 31-year-old, a free agent having left Grasshopper Zurich this summer, is best known for having played for Arsenal, but also turned out for the likes of Everton, AC Milan, Valencia and Aston Villa.
Ahead of Friday’s clash with Kilmarnock, manager Warburton told the club’s official YouTube channel that he doesn’t think Rangers are too far away from signing Senderos, who has played in three World Cup for Switzerland.
Warburton added that, whilst a deal could be done today or in a couple of days, he would have no qualms throwing Senderos into the squad against Kilmarnock, given how physically impressive the defender has been in training.

“He’s looking at us and we’re looking at him,” said Warburton. “That’s how it works, it’s as simple as that. He’s come in and done very well physically. His CV is very impressive, there’s no doubt about that, so hopefully we can come to a suitable conclusion very quickly.”
“Conversation are going on, so hopefully when we can announce something, we will do. Right now, we’re making progress, and I don’t think we’re too far away. It could be done this afternoon, it could be done in a couple of days, we’ll wait and see how things go.”
“I’ve got no problem with that at all. We only sign players that we know we’re comfortable using, and have no doubt about their ability on and off the pitch. If that was to be the case, then it’s all well and good,” he added.
