Ibrox boss Mark Warburton hails Lee Wallace’s performance for Glasgow Rangers.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton has singled out left-back and captain Lee Wallace for praise following their 2-1 win at Dundee on Sunday, in an interview with The Scottish Sun.
The Gers, who drew 1-1 with Hamilton in their Premiership curtain raiser last week, edged out Dundee yesterday afternoon to get their first league win wrapped up.
Harry Forrester fired Rangers ahead before Kenny Miller doubled that advantage as Warburton’s side appeared to be cruising.
But Mark O’Hara pulled one back for the hosts on the stroke of half time to change the complexion of the 53-year-old’s team talk during the break.
Whatever Warburton said, it worked. Rangers re-appeared for the second half and showed a sense of resillience which will serve them well at other times this season as the Glasgow giants withstood pressure to see out the win.
There were a number of very decent individual performances, but the Rangers boss has singled out the “excellent” Wallace for his display.
“We controlled the game and our movement was good. We created chance after chance and Lee Wallace was excellent,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“We should have been more clinical and then second half we shouldn’t have to show resilience. First half, it should have been game over.”
