Rangers star Harry Forrester is set to sign a new contract, according to Mark Warburton.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton has told the club’s official YouTube channel that midfielder Harry Forrester is poised to sign a new contract with the club.
Forrester, 25, worked with Rangers boss at both Watford and Brentford, before reuniting at Ibrox in January having completed a move from Doncaster Rovers.
The former Aston Villa youngster arrived on a six-month contract, and made very little impact in the early stages of his Rangers career, with some suggesting that he didn’t deserve a new deal come the end of the season.
However, Forrester has now become a firm fan favourite at Rangers, having smashed a superb five goals in his last seven games for the club.
Now, the opinion on Forrester’s future appears to have changed, and Gers fans have been desperate for Forrester to earn a new contract extension ahead of the summer transfer window.
Today, Rangers boss Warburton has told the club’s official YouTube channel that talks are progressing well with Forrester, and a new deal is in fact close to being finalised.
“We’re very close to Harry Forrester committing his long-term future to the club,” said an optimistic Warburton, who has a big summer ahead of him.
With promotion all but secured, Rangers need a strong squad to compete in the top flight next season – and Warburton appears to have seen enough to suggest that Forrester can make a big impact in the Scottish Premiership, hence his imminent new contract.
