Some Aston Villa fans have been getting very excited after it was reported that Nassef Sawiris is due for a cash injection after his investment business, NNS, sold its stake in Signature Aviation.

Usually, this sort of deal wouldn’t make many headlines, but the fact that this was a part of a $4.7 billion deal that saw Bill Gates purchase the company has got Villa fans talking.

The $4.7 billion figure used in the headline in the report is slightly misleading as Sawiris is only due 7.42 per cent of that windfall. However, when you’re dealing with sums that big, that’s still a huge amount.

Indeed, it’s still around $350 million that Sawaris will be pocketing, and that may allow him to invest more into Aston Villa.

As you can imagine, the idea of Villa’s owner coming into a lot of money got tongues wagging amongst the fanbase.

Supporters may have gone a little over the top when suggesting the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland, but the point still stands that this deal could influence how much the Midlands outfit are able to spend this summer.

Here’s what the Villa Park faithful have been saying on social media…
