Tottenham Hotspur signed Victor Wanyama from Southampton during the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £11 million.

Tottenham’s summer signing Victor Wanyama has described how he and his teammates look up to manager Mauricio Pochettino as a father figure, during an exclusive interview with popular football magazine FourFourTwo, and quoted via the Evening Standard.
The Kenyan was seen as a vital signing for Spurs, and has increased their strength in depth by providing direct competition for Eric Dier.
Wanyama told FourFourTwo of the influence that Pochettino holds on the dressing room, as quoted by the Evening Standard:

“Pochettino is a really good person outside football as well as in football. He’s like a father figure, always speaking with everyone and giving them advice. All of the players look up to him as a father figure and also as a manager.”
Spurs have began their season in fine form, and currently sit second in the Premier League table, just one point behind league leaders Manchester City.
Wanyama has already impressed at White Hart Lane, and has been a regular feature in the Tottenham side thus far, appearing in all seven of their Premier League games.

The 25-year-old’s athleticism and tenacious pressing style is perfectly suited to Pochettino’s philosophies, and having the Kenyan in the side allows him to implement his game plan precisely in the manner he wants.
Next up for Spurs is a trip to the Hawthorns to take on West Bromwich Albion, in a game that should be perfectly suited to Wanyama, and a win could take the North London outfit to the Premier League summit.
