Jose Mourinho was tentatively linked with the Newcastle United job recently.

But the Portuguese coach, who was only appointed by Roma this past summer, publicly distanced himself from the role.

And some Newcastle fans are quipping on Twitter that actually, the legendary two-time Champions League winner does want the job at St James’s Park after footage from Italy last night.

Mourinho was sent to the stands for dissent during Roma’s 0-0 draw with Napoli on Sunday evening.

Even more bizarre was the fact that it was a dismissal for two yellow cards, which is quite rare and yet very Mourinho at the same time.

Here’s how some Newcastle fans reacted to the footage of the 58-year-old being sent off.

Busted flush?

Even though he’s still a massive name in football, the Magpies are better off going for somebody else anyway.

Mourinho looks finished as far as jobs in the English game goes after proving a failure at Tottenham, who sacked him last April.

Having failed at Manchester United before that, and been sacked by a Chelsea for a second time in 2015, the Portuguese is unlikely to ever be a force in the Premier League again.

One of the names Newcastle are being linked to is Paulo Fonseca, Mourinho’s compatriot.

It was reported that he was on the brink of getting the job earlier this week, but these reports look very wide of the mark and as of this morning, we’re no closer to knowing who will replace Steve Bruce in the North East.
