Should Everton consider Guilherme Siqueira?

Everton’s left-back problems can be summed up by Sam Allardyce selecting Cuco Martina in the position in recent matches.

Toffees fans were calling for the club to sign Patrice Evra after West Ham signalled interest, and later went on to sign the Frenchman.

But perhaps there may be another free agent left-back who can help?

Former Atletico Madrid defender Guilherme Siqueira is a free agent and at 31 is bidding for a chance to relaunch his career.

Siqueira was released by Atletico in September at his own request after undergoing knee surgery and discovering he was not in manager Diego Simeone’s plans.

Last month he was linked with signing for Roma as a replacement for Chelsea-bound Emerson Palmieri, Football Italia reported.

Siqueira is 31 and is a former regular at Atletico, also playing for Benfica, Udinese and Valencia.

He was linked to Everton once before, with The Mail reporting in 2013 that the Toffees were considering him as a potential replacement for Leighton Baines, who had been tipped to join Manchester United.

Siqueira was at Granada at the time and was reportedly Roberto Martinez’s first choice if Baines left, but he ended up joining Atletico and replacing Chelsea signing Filipe Luis.

There would naturally be concerns over Siqueira’s recovery from his knee problems, but the least Everton could do is bring the talented Brazilian in for a look, and see if he can show signs of improving their current options.
