Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Ryan Sessegnon for some time now.
Tottenham Hotspur are rarely busy in the January transfer windows under Mauricio Pochettino, but they could look for a new addition this time around.
Spurs have only ever signed three players in a January transfer window with Pochettino at the helm, landing Dele Alli in 2015, Shilow Tracey in 2016 and Maximus Tainio this year.
Yet, with Tottenham already out of the title race and in a scrap for a Champions League place, Pochettino may yet attempt to bring in a new face in January.
With question marks over the future of left back Danny Rose, amid reports from the Daily Mail that Manchester United could pursue a £50million deal for the England international, Spurs need to eye up a potential replacement – and their top target has been on their radar for some time.
Sky Sports report that Fulham teenager Ryan Sessegnon is the top name on Tottenham’s wish list if Rose leaves the club, having emerged as a long-term target for Pochettino.
It’s claimed that Spurs wanted to sign Sessegnon in the summer of 2016, as well as January 2017 and last summer, with their interest now set to stretch into a fourth successive transfer window.
2018 may now be the perfect time for Spurs to finally land Sessegnon, landing one of English football’s top young talents whilst handing Pochettino a player he has seemingly pursued for 18 months.
With four goals and two goals in 23 Championship games this season, Sessegnon – a left back with great pace and attacking ability, much likes Rose – is understandably attracting interest, and if Spurs leave it any longer, they may well miss out on the 17-year-old to a top Premier League rival, meaning a January move may be needed.
