Leeds United clinched a deal for Caleb Ekuban last night.
Ekuban is a player new Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen had been keeping a close eye on, and he has witnessed a powerful play from club owner Andrea Radrizzani to secure his services.
The difference is, APOEL were plotting a one season long loan deal, believing that they would not be able to persuade Chievo to let him go permanently.
Now at Leeds, Christiansen has beaten his old employers to the punch, and with ease too.
Leeds owner Radrizzani sanctioned a four year contract for Ekuban, signing the forward on a permanent deal.
Thomas Christiansen
It is quite a show of faith from the Leeds owner, and demonstrates both the lure of Leeds, the stability the club is offering, and the finances the club have at their disposal.
Last season Christiansen was managing APOEL in the Europa League, helping them defeat Spanish side Athletic Bilbao.
If he had any doubts about moving to England’s second tier, the Ekuban deal will have dispelled them, with the Whites able to blow APOEL out of the water in the chase for the promising striker.
