The Inter Milan striker would be a superb summer addition for Newcastle United.

Magpies boss Rafa Benitez will be looking to bolster his attacking options this summer, in preparation for what will surely be an extremely challenging campaign upon their return to the Premier League next season.

The Spaniard is well-known for favouring technically gifted forwards throughout his career, and with this in mind, he should consider a move for Inter Milan striker Stevan Jovetic, who he tried to sign for Napoli in 2014, according to talkSPORT.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of this season just gone on loan with La Liga side Sevilla, and impressed for the Spaniards, scoring six goals and chipping in with four assists in 21 league outings.

Sevilla have to option to buy the former Manchester City star for just €13.5 million (£11.5 million), but they are stalling on a bid for the player, according to Italian media outlet Football-Italia.

And Rafa should seize the opportunity created by the La Liga side’s indecisiveness by making a move for the talented international forward.

Jovetic would bring genuine quality to the Toon, and his skill set would really compliment Dwight Gayle, should Benitez opt to play with two strikers next term.

He possesses exceptional guile in and around the penalty box, and his technical prowess could make all the difference for the Magpies next term.

And with Sevilla failing to match Inter’s valuation, for the moment at least, Newcastle should not waste any time in making a move for Jovetic.
