Reported Everton target Marcel Tisserand will be allowed to leave Ingolstadt.
German side Ingolstadt have confirmed on their official website that defender Marcel Tisserand has been removed from first-team training in order to facilitate a move away before this month’s transfer deadline.
Ingolstadt have already lost defender Markus Suttner and midfielder Pascal Gross to Brighton and Hove Albion this summer, but now look set to lose another key player following relegation from the Bundesliga.
Defender Tisserand, 24, joined Ingolstadt from French side Monaco last summer after a two-year loan spell with Toulouse, and he was a regular in the Bundesliga last season.
The DR Congo international, who can play at centre back or right back, now wants to leave Ingolstadt, and the German side have confirmed on their official website that they have excluded both Tisserand and team-mate Florian Hadergjonaj until the end of the transfer window – and if they don’t move on, they will be sent down to the Under-21’s until they reconsider their stances.
Recent reports from RMC Sport claimed that Everton were interested in signing Tisserand to boost Ronald Koeman’s defensive options, but their €3million (£2.75million) offer doesn’t appear to have been enough to seal the deal.
Instead, French newspaper L’Equipe report that Tisserand is in talks over a move to Championship title favourites Middlesbrough, who could be in the market for a defender if Ben Gibson leaves before the transfer deadline later this month.
With Ingolstadt clearly furious with Tisserand over his desire to leave the club, Middlesbrough may now believe that they can land a bargain with the former Lens defender, continuing their summer spending spree having already landed the likes of Darren Randolph, Cyrus Christie, Jonny Howson, Martin Braithwaite, Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga.
It remains to be seen whether Everton return with a new offer for Tisserand now he seemingly has no future with Ingolstadt, but with Koeman instead looking for a left-sided centre back who can fill in for Leighton Baines at left back if needed, Tisserand may no longer fit the bill.
