Nicolas Gonzalez has opened the door to a summer move away from Stuttgart after links with Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United, as reported by Fussbal Transfers.
The newly-promoted Swabians have been a breath of fresh air in the Bundesliga this season.
And, alongside the jet-heeled Silas Wamangituka and the impressive Tanguy Coulibaly, the Argentina international has made a real impact in his debut campaign in Germany’s top flight.
Six goals in 13 games is a more than respectable return for Gonzalez, whose weaving wonder-strike against Hoffenheim before Christmas must surely be a contender for the Goal of the Season award.
Stuttgart director Sven Mislintat compared Gonzalez to his former Arsenal and Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the aftermath of that brilliant individual effort.
And there is a very real chance that the Albiceleste ace will join the Arsenal captain in North London sooner rather than later.
The Athletic reports that Tottenham have held talks over a potential £27 million deal that could see Gonzalez replace Benfica loanee Carlos Vincius in Jose Mourinho’s frontline.

“I give everything for VfB and I am happy here. But at some point I want to move on to the next level,” Gonzalez said, echoing his comments from the summer of 2020.
“I would put the chance of playing in Stuttgart next season at 50-50.”
Tuttomercatoweb reported a few months back that Marcelo Bielsa had asked Leeds to bring the skilful 22-year-old, who has been compared to the legendary Mario Kempes back home in South America, to Elland Road.
Now, the obsessive, single-minded Bielsa doesn’t tend to forget about a player he likes.
So Gonzalez’s latest act of speculation-stirring is unlikely to go unnoticed at Thorpe Arch.
