Before Vanderson joined Monaco, it was said that Tottenham and Newcastle both wanted to bring him to the Premier League.
It was Spanish outlet Sport who revealed that Newcastle were keen on the Brazilian, whereas Onze Mondial claimed that Tottenham expressed an interest.
Vanderson eventually joined Monaco – who have slapped a £52m price tag on his head – although Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe will be encouraged by fresh comments from the South American.
Vanderson could still join Tottenham or Newcastle
Despite losing out to Monaco, Spurs or the Magpies could still sign Vanderson one day, as he has now revealed he wants to test himself in the Premier League.
When asked if he would like to play in the Premier League, Onze Mondial quote the right-back as saying: “Yes. It’s an objective for all those who want to evolve at the highest level. It’s a big league like Ligue 1, but first, I want to play here and compete in the Champions League.”

Clearly, Vanderson didn’t think this was the right time to experience life in the Premier League, although his comments suggest Tottenham or Newcastle could still cross paths with him one day.
So far this season, the youngster has made 11 appearances for Monaco, picking up one red card.
Tottenham should leave Vanderson to Newcastle
In our view, it would be foolish of Tottenham to sign another right-back before offloading one of their current options.
Conte already has Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence to choose from – the latter has barely been used since his £20m move from Middlesbrough over the summer.
Therefore, Spurs must focus on getting the best out of their current options, and leave Vanderson to Newcastle.
Howe has the outstanding Kieran Trippier at right-back, but beyond the England international, there isn’t much quality in that area for the Magpies – therefore, a move for Vanderson in 2023 should definitely be revisited.
