Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has claimed that Arsenal are still in the market for Moises Caicedo.

The Gunners have been looking for solutions to their midfield depth problems and have been linked with summer moves for both Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi.

Arsenal did sign Jorginho in January, but at the age of 31, he has to be seen as a short-term fix.

This is why the ‘incredible’ midfielder remains an attractive target for Arsenal.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been impressing for Brighton, and has made it clear on his Instagram account that he wants to leave the club.

At the age of just 21, he has so much room to grow, and Arsenal hope that the next stage of his development comes at the Emirates.

Arsenal still want Caicedo

Bailey shared what he knows about this situation.

“They (Arsenal) still want Caicedo and I think it’s hats off to Brighton here. For them to say no and draw a line in the sand, for them to say no. I was reporting that they weren’t doing this, but I wasn’t believing them. They knew that if they let Caicedo go the likes of Mitoma, March and Mac Allister would also be knocking on the door saying they want to go as well. There is also this perception at Brighton that they could snatch the top four,” Bailey said.

Logical

It makes sense that Arsenal are still in the market for Caicedo. After all, he is a top player.

The South American couldn’t have been any clearer in January. He wants to leave Brighton and with Arsenal still looking for that long-term midfield solution, a move for Caicedo is just logical.

It doesn’t take a transfer genius to realise that a move for the Brighton star this summer would be a canny bit of work from the Gunners.
