Alan Shearer has said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (11:09pm, September 19, 2021) that the challenge from Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka on West Ham United defensive midfielder Tomas Soucek inside the penalty box was a foul.
While analysing the challenge from United defender Wan-Bissaka on West Ham ace Soucek inside the Red Devils’ penalty area, Newcastle United legend Shearer suggested that the 23-year-old English defender got lucky.
The incident happened in the 68th minute when the score in the Premier League game was 1-1.
Wan-Bissaka went in with a sliding challenge on Soucek.
Referee Martin Atkinson actually gave a free kick to United.
Shearer said on Match of the Day 2 on BBC One (11:09pm, September 19, 2021): “Just watch here, Wan-Bissaka on Soucek. He absolutely wipes him out.”
Wan-Bissaka’s challenge on Soucek did look like a foul.
What was bizarre was that Atkinson gave a free kick to the Red Devils.
That was a really strange decision.

West Ham lost the Premier League game 2-1 to United yesterday.
The Hammers could have actually picked up a point from the game when they were awarded a penalty deep into injury time.
West Ham manager David Moyes thought that it would be a good idea to bring on Mark Noble as a substitute to take the spot kick.
Noble saw his penalty saved by United goalkeeper David de Gea.
