The Burnley attacker is set for another spell on the sidelines.
Burnley forward Jonathan Walters’ misfortune with injuries has continued after he suffered a knee problem that required surgery.
As reported by The Burnley Express, Walters underwent surgery on Wednesday and now faces another spell on the sidelines having been restricted to just five appearances so far this season.
Walters has shown some encouraging signs during his displays for Burnley so far, making use of his physical strength and offering a direct attacking threat.
Burnley managed to cope well without Walters when he was sidelined earlier in the campaign, but Sean Dyche’s side would certainly benefit from bringing in some extra attacking firepower.
Many of Burnley’s impressive results this season have stemmed from their defensive resilience, while they have scored just 19 goals in the Premier League, with Stoke City, who are in the relegation zone, having found the net on more occasions.
Burnley will be determined to secure a top half finish in the Premier League this season, but it is clear that they have to bring in another attacker, with Walters’ absence and that of Robbie Brady making that need even more pressing.
Dyche’s side, who are currently in seventh place, face a difficult task tomorrow when they host Manchester United at Turf Moor.
