The young Tottenham Hotspur defender was impressive in his side’s FA Cup victory.
There were several positives for Tottenham Hotspur to take from their 3-0 victory at home to AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup third round, with the performance of Kyle Walker-Peters one of the plus points.
With Tottenham possessing impressive depth in both full-back berths, Walker-Peters has found game time difficult to come by this season, but the prospect seized his opportunity against AFC Wimbledon as he produced a composed performance at left-back.
Capable of providing a regular attacking threat while also being diligent defensively, the England youth international is a fine prospect and it would perhaps be beneficial for him to go out on loan this month so that he can play regularly elsewhere.
In the long term, though, Walker-Peters certainly possesses the potential to succeed at Tottenham and there is a feeling that he could eventually become the club’s first-choice right-back.
Kieran Trippier has produced some impressive performances at times, but Walker-Peters is capable of eventually overtaking him in the pecking order and challenging Serge Aurier for a starting berth.
For now Walker-Peters should be given more time to develop but there is definitely a case to suggest that he could become an important part of the Tottenham side in the not too distant future.
