Wales are into the last 16 of Euro 2020 despite a 1-0 defeat to Italy, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Joe Rodon playing a key role.

Robert Page’s side lost to a first-half Matteo Pessina goal, but they went through second from Group A as Switzerland could only beat Turkey 3-1.

The result means Wales can look forward to a knockout clash against Belgium, Russia, Finland or Denmark, having taken four points from their three games.

Tottenham ace Rodon stands tall

You could have forgiven Wales defender Joe Rodon for being a little rusty heading into this tournament.

The 23-year-old endured a frustrating season at Tottenham, starting just eight Premier League games and being left out of the side under Ryan Mason.

Rodon has been starting for Wales though, and showed why he’s so important to them as he defended with his life on the line in the second half.
