Speaking at a pre-match press conference, and broadcast on Sky Sports’ Good Morning Sports Fans this morning at 9:31 am, Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has explained how his fine run of form is down to him wanting it more than anyone else, and admitted it is a shame that it has taken him this long to realise this.
The 27-year-old seems to be finally realising his potential, and has started the 2016/17 campaign in scintillating form for the Gunners, with three goals and an assist in their opening six league games.
Walcott told reporters the reason behind his vast improvement in form for Arsenal, as quoted by Sky Sports:

“I just want it more than anyone else, and that’s just me, that’s the way I work now. It’s a shame it didn’t hit me a few years ago. There has been a slight change in my whole attitude, but I think you’ve got to do it for yourself now. I think in the past I was thinking about others instead of thinking about myself.”
The former Southampton man has been an integral part of Arsenal’s impressive start to the season. He has been far more aggressive in his play, and has even added a defensive side to his game, which was highlighted by the five tackles he made during the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday.

Walcott finally seems to be making Arsenal’s right-wing position his own, and he could turn out to be a wonderful asset for Arsene Wenger this term, with his blistering pace, instinctive finishing and the new-found work ethic he seems to have acquired.
Arsenal face FC Basel tonight in the Champions League and Walcott will be hoping to continue his impressive start to the season by helping his side claim their first win in the competition this term.
