It seems as though a selection of Aston Villa supporters have forgotten that a certain Lovre Kalinic is still on their books after the club tweeted about the goalkeeper.

Villa mentioned on their Twitter account that Kalinic was starting on the bench for Croatia’s 3-3 draw against Turkey last night.

It isn’t a surprise that the Villa Park faithful were somewhat surprised that Kalinic is still on their books given the number of keepers the club have.

Emiliano Martinez was purchased this summer, the injured Tom Heaton joined the club from Burnley when they got promoted.

Jed Steer is their long-serving shot-stopper and helped them win promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. And then there’s Kalinic.

Villa even had Orjan Nyland on their books until he recently parted ways with the club, whilst Pepe Reina opted against extending his stay in the West Midlands when they survived relegation. That’s a lot of senior keepers!

Kalinic is Villa’s fourth-choice keeper, at this moment in time, and it’s quite bonkers they have a keeper, who they purchased for £7 million [Telegrapgh] when they were in the Championship, so low down their pecking order.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Villa fans reacting to the club’s tweet about Kalinic:
