Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri says he is looking to leave the Black Cats in the summer transfer window.
Sunderland midfielder, Wahbi Khazri, has told French outlet SFR Sport that he would like to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
The Tunisian midfielder, who has 31 international caps under his belt, joined the Black Cats in the 2016 January transfer window on a four-year deal.
He proved to be a capable player during Sunderland’s escape from relegation under Sam Allardyce, but found himself on the fringes of the first team at Sunderland last season under former manager David Moyes.
The 26-year-old did enjoy a decent pre-season under Simon Grayson, but he is likely to drop down the pecking order at the club behind both George Honeyman and Aiden McGeady.
Khazri has made it clear that he wants to leave, and issued a ‘come and get me’ plea to any interested club that might want to take him before the transfer window closes.
“In my head, I want to leave. I am open to listening to offers and projects and above all I am looking for a project that allows me to kick-start and enjoy life on the pitch,” he told French outlet SFR Sport.
“My priority is to stay in the Premier League. When you have tasted the Premier League, you don’t want to leave it. I am open to all leagues and clubs.”
Sunderland fans have taken to Twitter to express their opinion. And judging by the reactions it seems they want him gone as well.
