Vurnon Anita recently joined Leeds United after leaving Newcastle United at the end of last season.
Vurnon Anita has explained to The Yorkshire Evening Post how his move to Leeds United came about.
Anita recently joined Championship club Leeds on a free transfer following his release from Premier League side Newcastle United at the end of the 2016-17 season.
The 28-year-old, who can operate as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder, has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the West Yorkshire outfit.
The Dutchman had been on the books of Newcastle since 2012, and the former Ajax star has explained how his move to Leeds came about.

“Yes and no,” Anita told The Yorkshire Evening Post when asked if he had been looking for a fresh start.
“The situation occurred that I got released, things didn’t work out with a new contract at Newcastle, but I’m here and I’m very happy to be here. I’m ready for a new challenge and I feel that now.”
Anita could prove to be a brilliant and smart signing for Leeds, who will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Championship during the 2017-18 campaign.
The Dutchman has extensive experience of English football and has played in the Championship with Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle.
The versatility of the 28-year-old is going to be valuable for Leeds. Given that Anita can feature as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder, he would give new head coach Thomas Christiansen options.
