Former Newcastle United star Vurnon Anita helped Leeds United win against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in the Championship last weekend.

Anita played for Leeds in the Championship game against Sunderland away from home at the Stadium of Light last weekend.
The 28-year-old, who can operate as a full-back or as a defensive midfielder, started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, as the Whites won 2-0.
The former Ajax star came in for some stick from the Sunderland fans at the Stadium of Light, as he is a former Newcastle player.

The Netherlands international was on the books of Sunderland’s bitter rivals Newcastle from 2012 until the end of the 2016-17 season.
Anita joined Leeds in the summer transfer window on a free after leaving the Magpies at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
The 28-year-old knew that he would get stick from the Sunderland supporters at the Stadium of Light, and he is happy to have helped Leeds pick up all three points from the encounter.

Anita’s comments about the jeers from Sunderland fans are certainly to make the Newcastle fans happy, who must be delighted that despite the Dutchman not playing for Rafael Benitez’s side anymore, he still has that ‘rivalry spirit’.
“I just do my thing” The Chronicle quotes Anita as saying when asked about the stick he got at the Stadium of Light last weekend. “I could hear it but I just did my thing.
“I knew that would happen but I was prepared. Of course, (it was nice to get a result), also for the Newcastle fans.”
