After his release from Newcastle United, Leeds are believed to be tracking the Dutchman.

According to the Sun, the Whites are keen on signing free agent Vurnon Anita, after his release from Newcastle last month.

Leeds believe they can convince the the Holland international into moving to Elland Road, and what a superb signing he would be for the west Yorkshire outfit.

The 28-year-old is entrenched in both experience and versatility, and would bring much needed established competition to Thomas Christiansen’s side.

His experience of playing in the Championship will be of great value to what is an extremely young group of players at Elland Road, and his presence in the side would offer far greater solidarity, whether he is deployed in midfield or at the right side of defence.

Anita is incredibly quick along the ground, and is tenacious in the tackle, which would provide Leeds with an added level of aggression to their setup.

In what will be a long and physically punishing Championship campaign, the Dutchman’s know-how and high energy levels will surely bring so much to Christiansen’s side, and his availability on a free transfer almost makes the deal a no-brainer.

The main problem Leeds will face will be the challenge in convincing him to move to a club in the second tier of English football, when he will surely have plenty of offers from teams all across Europe.

If they do manage to bring him to Elland Road though, it could turn out to be the signing that makes all the difference to their hopes of promotion this season.
