Newcastle United currently sit in second position in the Championship table.

Magpies regular Vurnon Anita has urged his side to put their inconsistent run of form behind them as they head into the new year, and focus on continuing to work hard during training, as they look to get back to winning ways against Nottingham Forest tomorrow, as quoted by the Chronicle.

Rafa Benitez’ men are currently two points adrift of league leaders Brighton & Hove Albion, after an inconsistent run in the Championship that has seen them win three and lose three of their last six outings.

But Anita highlighted the need for him and his teammates to focus during training, if his Newcastle side are to force themselves back to the top of the Championship pile, as quoted by the Chronicle:

“We can’t lose the confidence or focus. We just keep working hard in training and keep on going. Everybody wants to win here, and we need to be ready.”

Following tomorrow night’s game at home to Forest, the Magpies face consecutive away games at Blackburn Rovers and Brentford respectively, before they host Rotherham United at St James’ Park.

Then it’s the big one – Brighton away.

And Benitez will be desperate to head into that game on the back of four consecutive Championship victories, as they look to leap-frog the Seagulls into first spot.
