Vurnon Anita has become Leeds United’s latest signing, signing a three-year deal with the Whites.

Vurnon Anita has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Leeds is a beautiful club and that he is aware of the level of expectation placed upon the team by the supporters after completing his Elland Road switch.

Anita has become the Whites’ latest signing, signing a three-year deal with the club following his release from Championship title-winners Newcastle, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports, and being unveiled at the launch of Leeds’ new kit.

And the Dutchman explained his opinion of the club’s fans after completing his move, suggesting that the Magpies’ game against Leeds last season helped him form his opinion.

“The club are starting a new project with promotion in mind and that was one of the things that attracted me. It’s a beautiful club and (promotion) is something we need to achieve,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I played here last season with Newcastle so I know what the supporters are like. They are just like Newcastle: great supporters who demand a lot. I know what to expect and I’m not afraid of that.”

Having enjoyed promotion with Newcastle last term, Anita will be hoping that he can help inspire Thomas Christiansen’s men to a similar level of success during the coming campaign.

It would certainly hardly be a surprise if he played a prominent role in the side given his versatility. He is capable of playing on either flank – both in defence and midfield – and can also play in central midfield, so will be in contention to feature in a number of roles.

And if he can show the levels of reliability and consistency that Magpies fans were often treated to, then he will surely be capable of meeting the expectations he expects the Leeds fans to have.
