The Arsenal fan took great joy in United’s struggles, and even managed to have the last laugh following their late comeback.
For much of this afternoon’s match against Stoke City it looked as though Manchester United fans were in for another evening of sombre reflection.
Falling behind twice at Old Trafford, United ultimately got back into the game following some smart substitutions and goals from Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez.
But it was a hard slog, and in truth Mark Hughes’ side could have been out of sight were it not for some poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping from David de Gea.
But while United fans were willing their team to score, an Arsenal fan was finding it impossible to conceal his glee at his rivals’ struggles.
Piers Morgan has never been shy in speaking his mind, and today was no exception, as he took to Twitter to poke fun at the likes of van Persie, Rooney and Nani. He also had some ‘friendly’ banter with Michael Owen, Gary Neville and Rio Ferdinand during a series of tweets many will find it hard not to chuckle at.
In the end, United fans had the last laugh – or so they thought – as Hernandez’s winning goal gave the champions a much-needed three points. But even then Morgan had the final say, congratulating the club for remaining eighth in the Premier League table.
Below are some of Morgan’s tweets, should you care to take a look:
