Tottenham Hotspur have re-signed goalkeeper Michel Vorm.

Tottenham Hotspur new boy Michel Vorm has told the club’s official website that he thinks Paulo Gazzaniga will do a ‘great job’ in the absence of Hugo Lloris.

Spurs saw Lloris suffer a dislocated elbow in the 3-0 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion, leaving Mauricio Pochettino with a major issue between the sticks.

Paulo Gazzaniga will now have to step up into the position, and it looked like youngster Alfie Whiteman would have to serve as his backup.

However, Tottenham have today moved to bring back goalkeeper Michel Vorm, just months after releasing the Dutchman at the end of his contract.

Vorm, 35, has been a free agent since his deal ended in June, but now heads back to North London until the end of the season to offer experienced cover behind Gazzaniga.

Pochettino had Gazzaniga at Southampton and seems to really rate his compatriot, with Vorm having little chance of claiming the number one spot upon his return.

Now, Vorm has admitted that he thinks Gazzaniga will do a great job having seen his quality since he arrived in 2017, adding that they actually spoke to each other yesterday – before the deal was confirmed – and they’re happy to see each other.

“I’ve worked with him for a few years, and I saw his quality from the beginning,” said Vorm. “He’s a good lad, and he’s also a guy who has a good, strong mentality, and I think he will also bring good energy with him. I’m 100% sure he will do a great job.”

“I spoke with him yesterday, he’s happy that I’m back, and I’m happy to see him,” he added.
