The Serbian stopper is not in Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton’s plans.
Nottingham Forest’s Vladimir Stojkovic kisses the ball after making a save
Nottingham Forest suffered some goalkeeping woes last season. They sold Dorus De Vries to Celtic last summer and, despite their manager at the time Philippe Montanier being a former keeper himself, did not do a good job in replacing him.
Serbian international Vladimir Stojkovic was eventually signed as his replacement, arriving from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa.
He showed off his excellent shot-stopping abilities at times throughout the season, but his error-prone nature soon shone through and Forest eventually went with Stephen Henderson and Jordan Smith instead.
The 33-year-old has not played for Forest since February and his future appears to be elsewhere.
Vladimir Stojkovic for Serbia
This week he has been linked with a move to PAOK in Greece. The Serbian has played in Greece before, with a brief spell at Ergotelis in 2014 and he seems keen on the move. He told PAOK24.com this week:
“I spoke with Stanojevic after I saw it coming to PAOK. And we talked a few days ago when I had obligations in the national team of Serbia.
“Of course I would come to PAOK if the offer came. I love Thessaloniki, PAOK respect. At the moment are free to negotiate the transfer.”
PAOK are now managed by a fellow Serb in Aleksandar Stanojevic, who is known to Stojkovic, and a move would certainly seem likely.
Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton
As yet, no contact has been made regarding a transfer. But it seems that the verteran stopper wants a Forest exit.
Not many Forest fans will be said to see him go. Stojkovic struggled for form for much of his stay at the City Ground and is clearly not a player rated highly by the manager Mark Warburton.
A move to Greece might be the best for all parties on this occasion.
