Burnley were thrashed 4-0 at the Hawthorns on Monday night.
West Bromwich Albion subjected Burnley to a thumping 4-0 defeat on Monday night as the Baggies ran Sean Dyche’s men ragged. Very few of the Clarets’ players emerged from the fixture with much credit, so let’s see how the Burnley players fared.
Tom Heaton
Looked nervous with the ball at his feet and was beaten too easily for James Morrison’s goal. However, a series of good saves ensured the score wasn’t more embarrassing. 5/10
Matthew Lowton
Was at fault for the third goal and was guilty of neglecting his defensive responsibilities all night. Add that to his lacklustre delivery from the right-hand side and it was torrid night for the right-back. 3/10

Michael Keane
Was challenged all night by the physicality of Salomon Rondon and was unable to prevent the Venezuelan hitman from bringing in the Baggies attackers to cause Burnley all sorts of problems. 5/10
Ben Mee
Similar to Keane, Mee struggled with Rondon all night. He was also all at sea for Darren Fletcher’s goal. 4/10
Stephen Ward
Was unable to prevent the cross for Phillips’ early goal but other than that was able to keep Chris Brunt reasonably quiet as the Baggies mainly attacked down the Burnley right. 5/10
Johann Berg Gudmundsson
One of the brighter Burnley players last night, Gudmundsson never stopped in his marauding down the right flank. He consistently probed and his battle with Baggies left-back Allan Nyom was fierce. 6/10

Dean Marney
Was ultimately at fault for the first goal and was too often bypassed by the West Brom counter attacks. 4/10
Steven Defour
Was withdrawn at half-time for Ashley Barnes, and it’s unclear why, but he played reasonably well in the middle of the park. Committed a couple of fouls but looked eager to spread the play. 6/10
Scott Arfield
Worked as hard as ever and got into some good positions but apart from that looked relatively ineffective. 5/10
Jeff Hendrick
Looked lost in behind Sam Vokes and was unable to link defence and attack sufficiently, meaning that there were few chances created. 4/10
Sam Vokes
Isolated, lacked service and won too few headers for Burnley to be in any way effective. If Vokes isn’t effective as a target man, he is virtually redundant. 3/10

Substitutes
Ashley Barnes
Came on at half-time and injected impetus into the Burnley midfield but otherwise achieved little. 5/10
Andre Gray
A different approach to the battering ram of Sam Vokes but again could not impose himself on the game. 4/10
George Boyd
Only on for the last ten minutes. n/a
