Liverpool have been sweating over a club v country row surrounding Virgil van Dijk – and he has tackled the issue in an interview today.
Van Dijk suffered a major knee injury back in October, ruling him out for the rest of the Premier League season.
There has still been lingering hope that Van Dijk could make it back in time to play for the Netherlands at the European Championships this summer.
The Dutch obviously want Van Dijk involved, but he has admitted today that he will not be taking part in the Euros, and will instead focus on getting himself fit for Liverpool’s pre-season.
That’s great news for Liverpool, as they now don’t have to worry about Van Dijk suffering a setback at EURO 2020.
Van Dijk’s absence is a blow for the Netherlands though, who will now have to rely on the likes of Matthijs de Ligt, Stefan de Vrij, Sven Botman and Nathan Ake.
Van Dijk has now taken to Twitter in order to send a message to fans following that interview, stating ‘feeling strong, feeling good’.
Van Dijk’s tweet was accompanied with a video of him in action at Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre, with his return on the horizon.
