Tim Sherwood has said on Premier League Productions that Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk had his worst game against Atletico Madrid in midweek.
What’s the story?
Liverpool got the better of Atletico Madrid 3-2 away from home in Spain in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
It was a very entertaining game in which Mohamed Salah scored twice.
However, Liverpool conceded two goals in the first half.
Jurgem Klopp’s side did not look very comfortable defensively.
Tim Sherwood’s verdict
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager Sherwood believes that Netherlands international Van Dijk had his worst game for Liverpool this week.
Sherwood said on Premier League Productions: “Possibly the worst game I have seen Van Dijk play there. He got caught out.”

Virgil van Dijk will bounce back
Every player, including defenders, have bad games.
Van Dijk was far from his best against Atletico and should have done much better for the second Atletico goal.
The 30-year-old did not have a particular great game against Brentford in the Premier League earlier this season.

And now the Dutchman struggled against Atletico.
However, we do not think that Van Dijk is ‘regressing’.
In our view, the Dutchman remains one of the best centre-backs in the world and will bounce back.
What better game to show that you can recover than against Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.
