Things just seem to be getting better and better for Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven.

On the domestic stage, Micky van de Ven is sitting top of the Premier League table with Ange Postecoglou, as he scored his first goal for the club at Luton Town recently.

And now, during this international break, Tottenham’s summer signing made his Netherlands debut on Friday night, before being part of a dramatic stoppage-time win over Greece in their Euro 2024 qualifier on Monday.

Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk scored a penalty at the death to seal the points for his team, before he reacted to Micky van de Ven’s Instagram post following that win.

The 22-year-old posted ‘crucial step towards a goal’, with the Dutch now sitting second in Group B after overtaking Greece.

In the comments section of the Spurs man’s IG post, Virgil van Dijk posted raised hands and a fire emoji, whilst Cody Gakpo applauded his national teammate for his performance from the bench.

More caps coming van de Ven’s way…

As of this moment, van Dijk and Nathan Ake are the two main guys at the heart of the defence for the Netherlands, but Tottenham’s new boy is certainly knocking on that door.

Given that the above two have been playing at a much higher level for longer, added to the trophies they have, it will be a while before van de Ven takes their place.

But he is certainly in the picture and it’s a big step towards where he was only six months ago.
