Jurgen Klopp’s side played out a goalless draw with Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby on Sunday evening.
The Toffees made it tough for the Reds’ attackers and defended well, and Carlo Ancelotti’s side also had a very good chance.
Van Dijk has given his verdict on Everton, and the Netherlands international central defender has praised the Toffees for the way they defended.
Meanwhile, David Meyler has praised his former Republic of Ireland international teammate Seamus Coleman for his performance for Everton against Liverpool, while Yannick Bolasie, on loan at Sporting Lisbon from the Toffees, has given his take on the final result.
Van Dijk told Liverpool’s official website about Everton: “First of all, they’re not bad defensively. You have to give them credit for that, they kept it tight, they kept it compact and that’s what we expect from a Carlo Ancelotti team as well.
“It was tough for them to find the breakthrough and for us as well, and I think it was a very intense game.”
