Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to share some news with Liverpool fans involving Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho.
The Italian journalist revealed that the Dutchman is ‘waiting’ to discuss a new contract with the Reds.
Romano claims that it has been one of Liverpool’s priorities since January to wrap up a new deal for Van Dijk.
Additionally, Romano states that Jürgen Klopp’s side plan to have talks with Fabinho over a new contract as well.
The Brazilian only has two years left on his current terms, with Liverpool hoping to extend his stay on Merseyside.
Presumably, the Reds don’t want to be left in a precarious position in which Fabinho only has 12 months remaining on his deal.
This is great news, to say the least.
Everyone loves transfers, and there’s no denying that Liverpool’s squad needs a reinforcement or two this summer.

However, it’s just as important to keep the superstars you already have.
Fabinho and Van Dijk are arguably the best players in Europe in their positions, and are crucial members of Liverpool’s spine under Klopp.
If the Reds are to wrestle their Premier League title back from Manchester City, they’ll need their No.3 and No.4 signed up and ready to go.
Along with Mohamed Salah, Alisson and Sadio Mané, Fabinho and Van Dijk have been two of Klopp’s best, and most important, signings.

In total, Fabinho has made 117 appearances since his £43.7 million move from Monaco, winning the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup.
In Van Dijk’s case, he has made 130 appearances, winning the same amount of trophies while on his way to being named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
The pair are absolutely superb footballers, straight from the top drawer.
