Should Leeds United make a move for James Milner of Liverpool in the summer of 2018?

James Milner of Liverpool shows his frustration during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on February 4, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Vinnie Jones has suggested to The Sun that Leeds United should re-sign James Milner from Liverpool.

Milner started his professional club football career at Leeds and played for the West Yorkshire outfit until 2004 when he joined Newcastle United.

The 32-year-old, who is a very versatile footballer and can operate as a midfielder, winger or full-back, is under contract at Liverpool until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Former Leeds midfielder Jones has suggested that the Championship club should look to bring back Milner to Elland Road.

Jones told The Sun while referring to Liverpool’s Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday: “I was thinking last night, listening to the Liverpool game – James Milner.

“People like Milner who could come in, they are still great athletes and the rest of it, I think to really get out of that league you need that.”

Bring James Milner back?

Milner is a very hard-working and consistent player who gives his all on the football pitch, and the former England international would be a good signing for any club.

The midfielder himself was quoted as saying by The Yorkshire Evening Post in May 2017 that he would love to play for Leeds again.

However, it is hard to see Milner play for the Whites if they are in the Championship next season, especially as he is in his early 30s and can carry on at the top level for a few more years at least.

Moreover, Liverpool may not be willing to sell the 32-year-old in the summer of 2018, as he is an important player in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
